KAPOLEI, HI – October 18, 2016 – AlohaNAP, the premier enterprise data center in Hawaii, announces it has partnered with Aloha-IX to build a non-profit Internet Exchange (IX) node into AlohaNAP’s Kapolei, HI data center. The addition of this node increases access for the local Internet community and expands reach into Hawaii.
AlohaNAP will provide free space and power to the IX in addition to becoming one of the founding participants in the exchange. AlohaNAP provides secure connectivity between the Aloha-IX node in its data center to Aloha-IX core switches. Local customers of AlohaNAP will have direct access through the new IX to peering services offered by Aloha-IX.
“Developing an Internet Exchange at AlohaNAP is a great opportunity for the peering community to extend its reach into Hawaii,” states Paul Emmons, Executive Director of Aloha-IX. “We strive to provide excellent interconnection opportunities to peering participants and this exchange broadens our reach.”
“Non-profit exchanges are a key component to increasing the ability for content and carrier to peer in a non-monetized environment,” states Robert DeVita, Chief Sales Officer at AlohaNAP. “Aloha-IX was created by leaders in the peering community who have a commitment to providing the highest level of connectivity. Hawaii will benefit greatly from the presence of Aloha-IX.”
